XLNT Foods Frito Pie Recipe
In our last recipe blog 5 Best Chili Dishes for Your Super Sunday we shared a Chili Frito Pie Recipe served in a casserole dish but there is a fun alternative chili recipe thats equally delicious and is always big hit for the big game tailgate party. Corn chips are the perfect match for your chili and imagine a chili recipe where there are no plates to clean up afterwards. This Chili Frito Pie Recipe uses XLNT Chili Con Carne and served right in the bag of chips!
INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 small yellow onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, pressed or minced
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
1 14.5 oz can petite diced tomatoes, with liquid
1 tsp chili powder
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
½ tsp salt
½ tsp course ground pepper
1 16oz package XLNT Chili Con Carne
1 8oz can tomato sauce
4 snack bags of Fritos
INSTRUCTIONS
In a large stock pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add in onion and cook until softened. Add in garlic and cook 1 minute more. Add in beef, and using a spoon break up into small pieces as it browns. Once browned completely, stir in diced tomatoes, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes then stir in XLNT chili con carne and tomato sauce. Stir and bring to a light simmer. Cook for 10 minutes until all flavors come together.
Crush the contents of your small Frito bag and either slice the bag of chips down the center or open the bag from the top and fold down the sides. Now fill bag with 3/4 cups of chili, 1 tablespoon sour cream, sliced jalapeños and Mexican cheese blend. Top with fresh diced green peppers and serve.
