XLNT Foods - Unwrap the Details of Tamale Shipping

Safety, location, speed and weight…Many of our customers have been contacting us with questions regarding the shipping rates for the new XLNT Foods Online store. Therefore, we’d like to take this opportunity to share what went into establishing those rates. As we researched packing materials and shipping options, our top two priorities were keeping our products safe for consumption and offering reasonable, transparent shipping rates. We want you to feel confident in our process, so we're sharing all the details. In order to ship products that will arrive in optimal condition and below the FDA temperature threshold of 40ºF, we include 3 lbs. of ice packs and another 2.5 lbs. of dry ice. In addition to including the 5.5 lbs. of refrigerant, we decided to ship UPS 2nd Day Air during the hottest months of the year because our temperature test data showed that products would still arrive in good condition within that time frame. The weight of the box, shipment speed and delivery location were all reviewed in great detail before we finally determined our rates.

Furthermore, we looked at what our competitors were charging for shipping to ensure we weren’t missing anything. Here is what we found. While many tamale companies charge freight comparable with our rates, other companies have “free shipping” while including those shipping rates in the cost of their products…so its not really free. When we crunched the numbers, we discovered that our combined product and shipping prices were hard to beat. We are making our comparison charts available for you so you can see our research. Ultimately, we want you to know that we take the shipping price to heart and will always look for a way to improve in this area as we go forward. For example, we lower our rates during the winter months for winter shipping rates using UPS 3-day Select, which will make a considerable difference in lowering those rates during the coolest months of the year and still get your product to you in great condition.
